An Employee in the actual job communicating via Social Media with Candidates for a like role proves more effective - Kelle Thompson

As a recruiter, the hunt for people is always on. Social media can be a handy place for grabbing eyeballs of a wide range of people across demographics. And of course this is the most sought hang-out place for every job-seeker.

Having several connections, connections of connections on social media makes it easy to broadcast your message or content around. Below are some considerations every company should have:

Talk only about what matters to your users

All that interests the users following your official social media account are-
  • What you share and
  • How users are engaging with it.
The Golden rule is to not push promotional posts every time rather some interesting content which pulls users in and keep them engaged. Here are few things that you can post to keep the users engaged with your brand: ( Not to be followed as a religion)

  1. A day in your organisation - How is it like to work for your organisation.
  2. Events and activities around your org.
  3. Industry innovation.
  4. Interactive discussions on trending topics (Controversial too).
  5. Audience polls.
  6. Job posts.
  7. Internship diaries.
Ex: L'oreal, Zappos they don’t preach what they do rather they engage the audience with fun quotes, contests, photos, and videos. By doing so, they are influencing the decision of the right kind of talent with incredible skill sets to choose their organisation.

Easier access to important candidate data

Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn give enormous amount of data - both public and private ( If you are connected ). An employer who misses out to leverage this can be in great trouble while sourcing candidates for their profiles.

Virality of job postings

If you can nail your messaging right on social media with a mixture of creativity, nothing can prevent virality. There are many such successful examples spread across these social networks. Involve designers and marketers from your team to get it going.

Who doesn’t like to retweet/share an excellent job opportunity?

You are looking for a job or not, there will be someone in your connections looking for it. Sharing a job ad/posts on social media is a common affair and results are astonishing. An employer should ask their employees to tweet or post about the job openings regularly. And why not, your employee’s referral are the best source of hire. Period.

Your company should not fail in utilizing social media for recruiting. If they do, the drop in quantity and quality of applicants is certain.
